Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner for Forma - Costela Lounge Chair

This is the European version of the Costela chairs, manufactured under license by Forma, Italy. These so called Costela lounge chairs have rosewood plywood ribbed structure supported by a black painted tubular metal frame with brass feet. The chairs are in fantastic original condition and the seats have been newly upholstered in a nice white woven fabric. The Costela chair was an important design for the Brazilian mid-century modern movement in the 1950s. It became so popular that even outside Brazil there was a lot of requests for it. So, they decided to also produce this chair in Europe which was cheaper than shipping the chairs to Europe.
