“It was a pleasure to continue our relationship with Capella after the success of Capella Sydney. The natural and historical context of Sentosa Island allowed us to extend upon an emerging language for the Capella brand, one defined by skilled craftsmanship, noble materials and the gentle entwining of art and design while fundamentally tilting it to embody the cultural beauty of Singapore and Sentosa Island.” ~ Simone
The brief for Capella Singapore was to create something that felt like a private home, a space where guests could feel relaxed and at ease, but also enjoy the luxury and amenities of the hotel. It’s a delicate balance that many hotels try to achieve, but few truly succeed. What Simone created here is a manor that seamlessly marries that homely warmth with the grandeur of a high-end hotel—giving guests a sense of intimacy, comfort, and belonging.
Building on previous work for Capella Sydney, the free-standing manor at Capella Singapore continues the design narrative Simone developed—one that’s centered around artisanal craftsmanship, soft, muted palettes, and an eclectic mix of carefully chosen furniture, art, and objects. The interiors are layered and rich, creating a sense of home while subtly reflecting the unique cultural backdrop of Singapore. The result is a space that feels refined but approachable, with a strong sense of understated elegance that resonates with both local guests and international visitors.
From the moment you enter, the space has a welcoming warmth, with sculptural vignettes in pewter, ceramics, rare timbers, and glass creating little pockets of visual poetry. A Pelle Lure Lantern in cast cotton paper and brass softly illuminates the living room, casting delicate leafy shadows across the space, while a custom rug in earthy tones of olive, off-white, and rich brown draws you in with its free-flowing linear pattern—a nod to travel and topography. Seen from the mezzanine above, it’s a striking focal point that really brings the room together. Each of these elements—whether it’s the carefully chosen furniture, the commissioned artwork, or the subtle textures—contributes to an overall feeling of casual sophistication, much like you’d find in a private guesthouse.
What makes Capella Singapore’s Manor so unique is the combination of bespoke design and an ever-growing network of global artisans, makers, and designers Simone has cultivated over the years. This network allows the team to source rare, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, blending them effortlessly with custom contemporary furniture and rugs, as well as artwork that reflects the character of the space. The result is a manor that feels entirely unique, with a rich, layered design that has both depth and authenticity.
Every manor at Capella Singapore is designed as a private retreat, offering three ensuite bedrooms, spacious living, dining, and study areas, plus a private terrace and pool. The neutral palette, subtly patterned wallpapers, and tropical foliage reflect the 30 acres of lush landscaped grounds surrounding the hotel, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s a place where you can truly unwind, surrounded by elements that tell a story and create a feeling of home, while still enjoying the luxury and amenities of a world-class resort. Whether it’s the vintage Swedish Carved Monk Chairs or the woven Peanut chairs, each piece tells its own story, contributing to a space that feels timeless and completely individual.
“The studio’s work is distinguished by warm, layered residential spaces harbouring a sense of storied elegance. Bringing that cultivation of home into a hotel setting allowed for an outcome that fostered the atmosphere of a private home, while still having access to the hotel's amenities and cultural offerings. Many hotels seek that balance, yet it alludes them. Capella’s trust in us as residential specialists has led to the creation of a manor that perfectly negotiates between home and hotel.” ~ Simone
“I want to thank you for staying true to your promise of transforming Manor 10. You and Cindy have truly deliverered, in fact, exceeded my, and the whole team’s expectations. I am so so happy with the outcome.”
