Armadale residence is the result of a cohesive and collaborative design process with a like-minded creative. Penny Cohen, the creative director of fashion label Skin and Threads, engaged Simone and the team to rework her formal living room and ensure that this grand old dame of a Victorian embodied a contemporary and feminine sensibility with a fashionable edge.

Knowing that her client didn't shy way from the bold use of colour or texture, Simone incorporated plums, navy and mustards into the space. The dining chairs differ slightly in tone and reference the Colin Penock painting. Vintage elements (such as the Italian 50’s chairs, the bar cart and the Danish vintage lamp) were overlaid with ceramics and objects and the client’s extensive library of fashion books.

The second stage of the project saw the studio turn their hand to the informal living space. This space had to be family friendly and comfortable, but still representative of the owner’s savvy style. Custom made pieces like the Thomas Lentini dining table sit alongside classics such as the Maralunga sofa, Cesca dining chairs and a series of vintage pieces. The space was layered with objects sourced on behalf of the client and styled onsite by the SH team.

I have loved working with the Simone Haag team. They also present new, dynamic ideas that push you out of your comfort zone, only to find that it’s exactly how you envisaged it to be. Interiors that feel exciting but still like home.

Simone has a way about her. She swoops in, interprets the brief intuitively, peppers you with fabulous ideas and delivers. It’s been an incredibly rewarding process to work with her and we can’t wait to do it all over again!
