Red Crest House embraces the nostalgia of the mid-century modern architectural style, the colourways and textures of the surrounding landscape, and the natural beauty of the Dandenong Ranges. The home is a close collaboration of architecture, interiors and styling teams, who were all inspired by what lies around.

The clients wanted to not worry about a gust of wind blowing red dirt into the home and to honour the land, finding colours, textures and forms that complemented and celebrated it. There is a very Australian vernacular throughout. It’s hard to see where the house stops and the furniture starts. We’ve each remained dedicated to creating a very cohesive experience across every element.

They wanted mid-century modern, so we guided them towards some pedigree pieces that they should invest in and others that were more contemporary, functional, and family-focused. Our early finds progressed the design forward and set the tone for much of the home.

We sourced locally and from far afield, vintage and new pieces, to complement the Architecture, Interior Design and surrounds, creating a a very cohesive look. It’s hard to see where one team's work stops and the other starts; in our view, that makes this home so successful.

"Massive thank you Simone and Melissa (such style queens) for mastering our ever evolving brief and creating functional, yet artful layers to our new family home. So grateful to you both for helping us take beautiful risks with confidence! Was so much fun! Stunning result! Such a wonderful team to work with at SH."
